Pacific Rim

Pacific Rim or Rives du Pacifique au Québec is a 2013 American-Mexican-Hong Kong science fiction film directed by Guillermo del Toro. Co-written by director Guillermo del Toro and Travis Beacham, the film features Humans using Mecha robots to battle Kaijūs. A sequel, Pacific Rim: Uprising, directed by Steven S. DeKnight, was released in 2018.

To fight the kaijus, extraterrestrial creatures that emerged from an interdimensional breach near the geological rift at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean in August 2013, a new kind of weapon was designed: giant robots, called Jaeger ("hunters in German), controlled simultaneously by two pilots whose minds are connected by a neural bridge. If the first models allowed the victory, the monsters come back stronger and in 2020, the Jaegers suffer a wave of setbacks. On the eve of defeat, when the Jaeger program has just been abandoned, in 2025, the forces that defend humanity have no choice but to turn to two unlikely heroes: Raleigh Becket, a former pilot still traumatized by the death of his brother during a confrontation against a kaiju and Mako Mori, a rookie never been in the field, having lost his family who was killed by a kaiju.

The Final...

Several times humans have tried to bombard the breach but nothing happens. That's when Ermann and Newton drift with a baby kaiju's brain and learn that kaijus come in and out thanks to their genetic code: conclusion, you have to jump into the breach with a kaiju (dead or alive), the breach will recognize the kaiju's DNA and let the jeager pass with it.

...Mission

And that's what Gypsy did! They took a kaiju carcass and dragged it to the breach. Unfortunately, it's not that easy: Slattern (the very first category 5 kaiju) blocks their way. As Becket and Mori are completely nuts, they jump on Slattern and dive into the breach. Slattern manages to puncture Mako's oxygen tank and Gypsy retaliates by burning him to the core. Of course, he dies, but Raleigh gives Mako his oxygen and ejects him into an escape pod. Raleigh, alone in the jaeger, must self-destruct for the destruction of the breach; coincidentally 🤔 the self-destruct doesn't work, so Raleigh has to initiate it manually. After that, he ejects and comes out of the breach.

Pacific Rim : Uprising

Pacific Rim: Uprising, or Rives du Pacifique: La Révolte1 au Québec, is an American-British-Sino-Japanese-Mexican film directed by Steven S. DeKnight, released in 2018. It follows Pacific Rim by Guillermo del Toro, released in 2013.

Ten years after the closure of the breach that marked the end of the war that saw the alien Kaijûs and the giant Jaeger robots of humanity confront each other, the world is rebuilding and now lives in peace without the Kaijûs. Jake, son of the famous Marshall Stacker Pentecost who died as a hero and former Jaeger pilot, lives on theft and barter while fleeing the family past. He will meet the young Amara Namani, who has made her own Jaeger.

They are both arrested for stealing Jaeger equipment and illegally building Jaeger and, in order to avoid jail, are forced to agree to be enrolled in the Jaeger program at the cadet school in China where Jake is reunited with his Jaeger's former co-pilot, Nate Lambert, in order to train the new pilot recruits, whom Amara joins. On site, everyone is in turmoil because the Jaegers are about to be rendered obsolete by the vote of a drone program produced by Shao Corporation and developed by Liwen Shao and Dr. Newton Geiszler. Jake also finds his half-sister, Mako Mori, who has become Secretary General of the Pan Pacific Defense Corps. But just as the summit for the vote is about to begin in Sydney, an illegal Jaeger arrives and attacks the city, killing Mako Mori.

Newton and his diabolical plan...

Newton, a brilliant scientist present in pacific-Rim, gradually becomes possessed or controlled by the precursors -colonizers and leaders of the kaijus- and disrupt Liwen Shao's drones by putting kaijus eggs in the controllers. These hatch and ravage the base in China. The other drones meet in several places on Earth and manage to create a multi-breach - several breaches opening at the same time - and 3 kaijus manage to get out before Shao manages to divert them.

...which is a huge monster

During their fight, strange creatures appear and merge with the three kaijus to become one: a mega-kaiju.

This kaiju has all the abilities of the previous kaijus: a double tail and a "spiky" back and absorbs the energy sent into its organ and sends it back against the other jeagers.

The goal from the start...

Before the mission, Jake realizes and shares his thoughts with Hermann sue, from the beginning, the objective of the kaijus is not to eliminate each city, but to eliminate the whole world at the same time thanks to their blood, extremely radioactive when in contact with rare rocks, i.e. when a kaiju comes into contact with rare rocks, poisonous gas will spread out killing all living beings present.
